Investigation underway after woman shot at on Hwy. 99

CHP calls overnight Highway 99 shooting a "growing problem"

A woman is suffering from minor injuries after being shot at on Highway 99, according to California Highway Patrol. 

According to CHP, the incident happened early Tuesday morning, at approximately 3 a.m., between 47th Avenue and 12th Avenue. The victim called 911 saying that a dark vehicle approached her and someone in the car started shooting at her.

Upon arrival, CHP officers surrounded a red Nissan Altima with a shattered back window. 

Multiple gun shots were fired at the car and the woman was hit by gunfire. She was then taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

An investigation is underway, though there is currently no information whether this was a targeted attack or if the victim was an innocent driver. CHP Valley Division ISU is assisting with the investigation.
