Injured Hiker Rescued Near Lake Genevieve In El Dorado County

EL DORADO COUNTY (CBS13) – A hiker along Meeks Bay Trail near Lake Genevieve in El Dorado County had to be rescued by helicopter on Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol Valley Division Air Operations.
The hiker fell and suffered moderate injuries and was then airlifted out by a CHP helicopter before being treated and transferred to a local hospital.
Authorities said a helicopter was necessary to reach the victims due to rough terrain and the area being so remote.
