Fresh snow in the Sierra Nevada causing closures, spin-outs
TRUCKEE – A fresh coating of snow is blanketing the Sierra Nevada on Monday, causing a traffic mess along high country roads.
Chain controls were in effect on Interstate 80 and Highway 50 during the morning but were dropped by the afternoon.
Highlighting how treacherous conditions were, eastbound I-80 traffic was being held at Baxter due to spinouts but has since been released.
Even experienced high country drivers are cautioning against travel, with near white-out conditions possible higher up the mountains
Drivers experienced delays and road closures through the morning.
