2 Killed In Crash Involving Big Rigs, Pickup Truck On Highway 99 Near Galt
GALT (CBS13) – Two people are dead after a crash involving four vehicles on Highway 99 near Galt on Tuesday morning.
The crash happened on the northbound side of the freeway, near Twin Cities Road.
CHP says a 43-year-old man driving a 2008 Freight Tractor pulling double trailers on Highway 99 crashed into a 33-year-old man from Galt in a 2007 Chevy Silverado at 55 miles per hour.
Investigators say the force of the crash forced the Chevy into a utility trailer being hauled by a Volvo Tractor that was driving at 5 miles per hour. The Volvo was also pushed into another utility trailer that was hauled by another Freight Tractor.

Investigators say the driver of the Chevy and his 20-year-old male passenger both died in the crash.
The driver of the 2008 Freight Tractor was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The other two truck drivers were not injured.

All lanes on northbound Highway 99 were blocked for most of the morning due to the crash. The roadway was reopened a little after 11 a.m.
Alcohol or drugs are not believed to be factors in the crash at this time.
