Highway 99 north of Yuba City reopens after 5-vehicle crash injures 3 people
YUBA CITY – Three people were taken to the hospital after a five-vehicle crash on Highway 99 just north of Yuba City closed the highway in both directions on Wednesday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened just south of Lomo Crossing, forcing the highway to be shut down in both directions for just over an hour sometime after 3 p.m.
The CHP said a tow truck didn't slow down for the traffic ahead, rear-ending a Subaru while also hitting three other vehicles.
An air ambulance that was requested was canceled, and the 50-year-old woman driving the Subaru was taken to the hospital via ground transport, the CHP said.
Two other people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Drivers heading through the area were being told to use another route.
