Grandmother out of ICU after she, granddaughter by vehicle in Stanislaus County
STANISLAUS COUNTY - A grandmother and her granddaughter were sent to the hospital after they were hit by a vehicle in Stanislaus County on the morning of December 14, the sheriff's office said.
At about 7:45 a.m. that day, officers received a report that a vehicle crashed into two people near Westgate Drive and Saxon Way in Riverbank.
When they arrived, they found a 67-year-old woman and a 9-year-old with severe injuries. They were rushed to the hospital in critical condition. The following day, a spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office said the child was expected to survive,
During the afternoon of December 28, the spokesperson said the grandmother had been moved out of ICU and was also stable and no longer critical.
Deputies told CBS13 that the girl attended Crossroad Elementary School, which is about three blocks north of Westgate Drive on Saxon Way.
The driver, a 50-year-old man, stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The CHP said a DUI was not suspected.
Riverbank is about 77 miles southeast of Sacramento.
