Girl Rescued By CHP Helicopter After Being Kicked In Head By Horse

NAPA (CBS13) – A horseback rider injured while exploring rural Napa County was rescued by a California Highway Patrol helicopter.

The rescue happened just before 6 p.m. Tuesday. According to CHP, the helicopter was called to a wooded area east of Skyline Park and found a girl who had been seriously injured.

First responders learned that the girl had been kicked in the head by her horse.

An officer was soon lowered to the scene and the girl was hoisted up into the helicopter. She was first taken back to Napa County Airport before being transferred to another helicopter that took her to Children's Hospital in Oakland.

The girl's current condition has not been released. CHP said she was wearing a helmet at the time. It is unclear what happened to her horse.
