Girl, 16, Found Slain In Southern California Home; Ex-Boyfriend Sought
PICO RIVERA, Calif. (AP) - A teenage girl was stabbed to death in her home early Friday and detectives were trying to find an ex-boyfriend to determine if he was involved, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.
The victim was 16-year-old Elena Moore, said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the county coroner's department.
The name of the ex-boyfriend was not released.
The attack occurred in the Shade Lane home shortly after 3 a.m.
The girl's mother woke up as her daughter staggered into the mother's upstairs bedroom, screaming she had been stabbed before she collapsed, a Sheriff's Department statement said.
"Based on the victim's statements to her mother prior to her collapse, the victim's ex-boyfriend is being sought to determine if he was involved in the attack," the statement said.
The girl and the ex-boyfriend dated for a year until the relationship ended two weeks ago.
The stabbing happened downstairs after the attacker entered the home through a back door, the statement said.
Authorities said they were investigating whether the attacker made a forced entry or was allowed inside.
Pico Rivera, population about 63,000, is southeast of Los Angeles.
