Funeral Service Held For Stockton Hit-And-Run Victim

STOCKTON (CBS13) - Stockton police officers and friends and family of Jimmy Pendergrass gathered to remember the man today.

Pendergrass was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash a week ago. He was a 30-year veteran of the Stockton Police Department and served the community as a pastor.

Pendergrass' service was held at the First Baptist Church on N. El Dorado Street in Stockton.

The man accused of killing Pendergrass will be arraigned today. Fifty-seven-year-old Sergio Meraz Chavira is accused of felony hit-and-run.

Police found Chavira sleeping in a green dodge caravan, they say, matched the description of the van caught on surveillance cameras in the area near the time of the incident.
