Former Employee Pays $12 To Buy Google's Domain Name
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (CBS Sacramento) -- A former Google employee was able to buy the company's domain name for just a few bucks.
Sanmay Ved told Sky News that he was using Google's new domain sale service and was shocked to find out that Google.com was for sale after typing it in.
Ved paid $12 for Google.com.
"I was hoping I would get an error at some time saying transaction did not go through, but I was able to complete the purchase, and my credit card was actually charged," Ved said.
Shortly after ownership of Google.com was transferred to him, he received an email from Google saying they canceled the order.
Ved told Sky News he contacted Google's security team to alert them to the breach.
