Flash Flood Warning Issued For Area Affected By Butte Fire

Sacramento (CBS13) The National Weather Service has issued the following Flash Flood Warning for Northeastern San Joaquin, South Central El Doroado, Southwestern Amador, Northwestern Calaveras, and Northern Stanislaus counties.

 

The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 1030 am PDT for
northeastern San Joaquin... south central El Dorado... southwestern
Amador... northwestern Calaveras and northern Stanislaus counties...

At 806 am PDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain moving across
the warned area including the area affected by The Butte fire.
Flash flooding... debris flows... and mud slides near steep terrain
are expected to begin shortly. The mud slide can consist of rock...
mud... vegetation and other loose materials.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Jackson... Paloma... San Andreas... Drytown... Somerset... Rail Road
Flat... Campo Seco... Rancho Calaveras... Fiddletown... Grizzly Flat...
Mountain Ranch... Lily Gap... Valley Springs... Pioneer... Clinton...
Volcano... Cooks station... Glencoe... Wallace and Sutter Creek.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life.

Turn around... dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Move away from recently burned areas. Life threatening flooding of
creeks... roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The heavy rains
will likely trigger Rockslides... mudslides and debris flows in steep
terrain... especially in and around these areas.
