Firefighters battle 3-alarm grass fire near Cordelia

FAIRFIELD – Firefighters responded to a three-alarm fire on Thursday morning near Highway 12 and Red Top Road. 

The fire could be seen from Interstate 80 and the Cordelia area.  

The Fairfield Police Department says there was no threat to structures but Highway 12 was closed to all traffic shortly before 11:30 a.m.

Cal Fire says the forward progress of the wildfire was stopped at about 20 acres. 

Expect firefighters to be in the area for the next few hours for mop-up work.
