Fast Start Propels Kings Over Raptors, 104-94
The Sacramento Kings bounced back emphatically from their loss in Minneapolis on Friday, going wire-to-wire to beat the Raptors 104-94 in Toronto on Sunday.
The Kings started hot, opening up a 22-6 advantage after six and a half minutes of play. Eight of Sacramento's 26 assists came in that first stretch, and the Kings totaled ten assists in the opening frame to build a 37-18 lead after one quarter.
Toronto would make some noise and create a more respectable halftime deficit of seven, but Kyle Lowry's ejection with 7:22 left in the third quarter made it more difficult for a Raptors team that was already without starters DeMarre Carroll and Jonas Valanciunas due to injury. Lowry finished with 13 points on 4-of-13 shooting.
The Kings (11-16) had six players in double figures, led by Rondo and Rudy Gay with 19 points each. All five Sacramento starters reached double digits, and Darren Collison pitched in with 11 off the bench.
DeMar DeRozan had a game-high 28 points for Toronto (17-12), who shot .372 from the field.
Sacramento earned a season sweep over the Raptors and evened their record at 1-1 on the road trip. The current four-game outing continues tomorrow against the Wizards.
