Family Looking for Answers Seven Months After Lodi Woman's Murder

LODI (CBS13) - The investigation continues into the murder of an elderly woman in Lodi.

Seventy-four-year-old Dorothy Wiederrich was found tied up and stabbed to death in her Lodi home in February.

Police say they're frustrated they haven't been able to pinpoint a suspect in this murder of Wiederrich, and now detectives are pleading with the community to help them bring her killer to justice.

"We are frustrated with the investigation and want to have answers," said a Lodi Police Department spokesperson.

Seven months later, Lodi police detectives are still working leads, trying to piece together any evidence that could bring them closer to whoever killed Wiederrich.

"We are working with the DOJ and we got DNA results back from the crime scene," he said.

Wiederrich's neighborhood has been on edge since her murder.

"We have no idea what's going on," said Midge Raverty, a nearby resident.

Raverty lives two doors down from where Wiederrich used to live. She says since the murder neighbors began outfitting their homes with security cameras and alarm systems.

"I didn't have security before but I do now," said Raverty.

She says she remembered seeing Wiederrich take walks around Lodi Lake always with someone else.

"She had someone there with her all day but not at night," said Raverty.

Lodi police detectives say from what their investigation has turned up so far, they don't believe there's a random killer targeting the elderly.

Family members say some of Wiederrich's jewelry was stolen after the murder, including a ring. Police say the ring isn't a significant part of the investigation.

"No distinguishing marks to the ring. We want to focus really hard on solid evidence," said a police spokesperson.

As detectives continue to dig deeper into this brutal murder, they're turning to the community's help and hoping to find answers.

"We haven't ruled anyone out until we can ID someone connected to the murder," he said.

Lodi police anyone with information about the murder to call them.
