Family Guide To The Sacramento Zoo

If you are looking for some local excitement, you do not have to go any further than the Sacramento Zoo. Take the family on a safari outing this summer! The Sacramento Zoo offers Family Overnight Safari, Red Panda Day, Senior Tea & Tours, Wild Affair, and Boo at the Zoo, to name a few that occur between now and the end of October. You will find many more events on the event page of their website.

Family Overnight Safari 
Sac Zoo Members Fee: $55 Adults, $51 Children ages 4-17
Non-Members Fee: $65 Adults, $61 Children

The Family Overnight Safari is offered at various times during June, July and August for families of two or more. The Zoo also has a program for 50 campers or more. Minimum age for this event is 4 years old and pre-registration is required. The event begins with set up of camp on the lawn of the reptile house. You have 45 minutes for dinner and then off to the Nighttime Tour and animal feeding. From 8:45 -10 pm you will have an evening program of animal encounters and then back to your designated area for the night. In the morning you break down camp, have breakfast and have a Morning Walkabout with the animal feeding ending the trip. Get your tickets now because they sell out quickly.

Ice Cream Safari
Saturday August 15, 4-8 p.m.
Early Bird Prices (before Aug. 12) Adults: $17, Children 2-11 $13
General Prices $20 Adults and $15 Children 2-11

The 31st Annual Ice Cream Safari will have all you can eat Baskin-Robbins ice cream with all you can drink Coca-Cola drinks around every turn as you walk through the zoo. There will also be face painting, an Ice Cream Dance Party, live entertainment and a GiRaffle for chances to win prizes. All proceeds will benefit the animal care and general maintenance of the Sacramento Zoo.

Tea & Tours Program
For seniors 55 and over
$15 per non-refundable

The Tea & Tours program is a great way to see the Zoo while enjoying a quiet break filled with, you guessed it, tea and snacks. Your tea break will consist of iced tea, lemonade, or water to drink, with salad, tea sandwiches, and cookies. Reservations are required and must be received two weeks in advance because this tour does fill up quite quickly. Tours begin early, at 9:30 a.m., and will last until around noon.

Red Panda Day
September 26, 10 am – 3 pm

Awareness and conservation are in order as you go through the Red Panda Stations of this interactive and educational event. After stopping at the various stations and completing the Panda activities, you can become a Red Panda Ranger! Other activities include a station to decorate your own flag to be placed around the exhibit and face painting. There will also be a raffle this year for a chance to win Red Panda keepsakes, décor, or themed artwork. Staff from the Red Panda Network (RPN) will be available to answer questions.

Boo At The Zoo
Friday & Saturday October 30 & 31, 2015, 5-8 pm
Early Bird Tickets through October 28: Members $8, Non Members $10
General Tickets October 29 on: $12, Children under 1 free, no member discount

Rain or shine, expect ghoulish family fun where the children will be safe to trick-or-treat. There will be 25 different candy stations around the lake. Other fun things to see or do will be the magic shows, costume dance party, or join in the ghoulish games. For an additional fee, you can also ride on the Creepy Carousel or the Spooky Train. This event is appropriate for children under the age of 10.
