Fairfield Senior Living Facility Shut Down After Crime Complaints, Code Violations
FAIRFIELD (CBS13) — A Fairfield senior living facility was a hotbed for crime and code violations according to the city, which revoked its permit.
Tenants at Senior Independent living told CBS13 about gaping holes in the floor and bed bugs, but they say they have few options they can afford.
Michele Gora showed where her 70-year-old mother has lived for three years. A one-bedroom home with no kitchen and no bed.
"It was infested with bed bugs," she said. "She has to wash her dishes in the tub, as does everybody that lives here."

Still, she says she's upset the senior living facility is forcing residents out by May 24, because at least it's something.
Neighbor Chris Poujade admits he's not 55 or older, which is required for the senior facility under its use permit. That's one of many violations the facility has been cited for.
"It's not great conditions but it's a roof over our heads," he said.
Documents show in one year, police responded more than 35 times. According to the city attorney, those crimes are what got the owner of the 7-Eleven next door to speak up.
The city revoked the senior facility's permit in March, which is also when notices were mailed to the tenants.
