Fairfield Dog At Center Of Shocking Video Turned Over To Authorities

FAIRFIELD (CBS13) – The dog seen being violently thrown in a video that went viral has been turned over to authorities.

Fairfield Police say Benny the Pug was turned over to Solano County Humane Animal Services Thursday night. Apparently, the dog was in Richmond when it was turned over to a third party, who then turned it over to authorities.

A video posted to Facebook captured Benny being tossed across the pavement on Pennsylvania Street in Fairfield. The video has racked up more than 50,000 views and made headlines across the world.

Police say they've completed their investigation of the incident and have forwarded the case to the district attorney's office.

The woman suspected of throwing the dog is believed to have left Solano County, police say.

Police say Benny is back in the custody of its owner, the man seen on video grabbing the dog after being thrown.
