Elk Grove Police Chief A Finalist For Corpus Christi Job

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) - Six finalists have been named to lead the Corpus Christi Police Department and replace Chief Floyd Simpson who died in a May motorcycle wreck.

Corpus Christi city officials Tuesday announced the candidates include interim Chief Mike Markle.

The list includes one law enforcement officer from California. Robert Lehner is chief of the Elk Grove Police Department. In 2014, Lehner was in the running for the top cop job in Seattle

The other four finalists are with Texas departments.

Malik Aziz is deputy chief of the Dallas Police Department. Abdul Pridgen is assistant chief of the Fort Worth Police Department.

Jeff Spivey is assistant chief of the Irving Police Department. Mark Schauer is assistant chief of the Corpus Christi Police Department.

Members of the public are invited to meet the candidates Friday at the American Bank Center. The candidates face addition city-related interviews on Saturday.
