Police: Elk Grove Child Allegedly Abducted By Mother Found Safe

ELK GROVE (CBS13) - The latest on the parental abduction of a 3-year-old girl in Elk Grove:

12 p.m.

Elk Grove police say the missing girl has been found safe.

Kira Chen was found safe in the Sacramento area just before noon on Friday, police say. The girl was allegedly abducted by her mother, Panpan Chen, who was also found safe.

4:14 a.m.

Elk Grove police are searching for a woman who is suspected of abducting her 3-year-old daughter.

Detectives say police officers responded to a report of child abduction on Thursday night. Upon arrival, they located the reporting party who stated that 29-year-old Panpan Chen picked up 3-year-old Kira Chen from school. The pair hasn't been seen since then.

According to the police department, Panpan Chen has made suicidal statements. The reporting party believes she may attempt to take the girl out of the country.
