High School Baseball Coach In Elk Grove District Accused Of Child Molestation

ELK GROVE (CBS13) — A former baseball coach and employee at Sheldon and Bradshaw Christian high schools in the Elk Grove school district is now facing child molestation charges.

John Misplay, 41, turned himself in to authorities after allegations he shared inappropriate images with several female students.

Detectives say the investigation began at Sheldon High School when a young female student had a conversation with a counselor.

"Our school resource officer went out there and started the investigation," said Sacramento County Sheriff's Sgt. Tony Turnbull.

The popular baseball coach and employee at Sheldon High School turned himself in following the disturbing allegation.

"They found that he had inappropriate communications with two 17-year-old students," he said.

Misplay is now charged with child molestation.

No one answered the door at Misplay's Elk Grove home on Tuesday.

Misplay was also a baseball coach at Bradshaw Christian High School in Elk Grove, where school officials there didn't want to talk about his employment on camera. They did confirm he recently resigned, citing personal reasons.

There are no criminal allegations at that school.

Investigators are asking for any more victims to come forward.

"If there are other kids that are involved or might have information we asked that they not hesitate to call the Sheriff's Department," Turnbull said.

Misplay is on administrative leave.
