El Dorado County Teen's Arrest Brings Focus To Adderall Abuse By Students
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The arrest of an El Dorado County teen for selling a prescription stimulant on campus is shedding light on Adderall.
The prescription to combat attention deficit disorder can be abused as a stimulant.
"You get charged; you get focused; and you get energized," said drug rehabilitation counselor Jon Daily. "Adderall is no different from methamphetamine. It's the same class of drug; it's just a different dose."

Deputies arrested a 17-year-old as part of an investigation into the collapse of two student-athletes following a football game on Friday. One remains in critical condition following brain surgery. Deputies aren't saying whether either student took the drug.
Stacey Crummet is a mother of two at Union Mine High School.
"You can have a punky kid or a top athlete and they will be introduced top whatever drug comes along their channel," she said.
Adderall is banned in professional sports; The National Football League suspended Baltimore Ravens lineman Haloti Ngata. The drug can give athletes increased alertness, aggressiveness, attention and concentration.
