El Dorado County Preschools Close After Man Threatens Violence Over Phone

By Kelly Ryan

EL DORADO COUNTY (CBS13) — The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office is trying to track down who is responsible for telephone threats directed at local preschools.

Several preschools in the area have shut down after the threats, though the sheriff's office has not instructed any schools to lockdown. It is not aware of any credible threats at this time.

The threatening messages made by a male caller were directed at several preschools, the sheriff's office said on Monday. The messages threatened staff at daycare facilities, preschools and a business that has children on its premises.

The sheriff's office says it doesn't want to give the caller any more attention, but felt the need to alert the public.

Extra patrols have been added around the schools as a precaution.
