Drowsy Driver Fished Out Of Car That Jumped Cliff
MARIN COUNTY, Calif. (AP) -- Two people are hospitalized after authorities fished them out a car that had jumped a cliff and fallen into the ocean below.
KRON reports the rescue occurred around midnight Saturday after reports of a collision on Shoreline Highway, south of the area's popular Stinson Beach.
Authorities used a California Highway Patrol helicopter to find the vehicle, which was at the base of a cliff with waves crashing against it. It was hard to get to, and the tide was rising.
Authorities landed the chopper nearby and hiked to the vehicle. They pulled both victims from the vehicle, and had them in flight to a hospital about 20 minutes before the peak of high tide.
Authorities declined to name the driver and passenger. They believe drowsy driving may have contributed.
