Dodgers announce World Series Parade through streets of downtown Los Angeles

Los Angeles prepares for Dodgers World Series Parade and celebrations

Following their incredible run to the 2024 World Series title, the Boys in Blue are ready to celebrate their victory with the Dodger Faithful, announcing a miles-long parade through the streets of downtown Los Angeles.

It will be the Dodgers' first parade in 36 years. The last one followed their win over the Oakland Athletics in 1988.

It's one of two events happening Friday. The other is a ticketed event at Dodger Stadium that players will attend after the parade.

The team landed at LAX Thursday morning following a night of locker room celebrations, where MVP Freddie Freeman — who set a major league record after homering in four series games — spoke with KCAL News' Jim Hill about how the Dodgers won. "I'm at a loss for words," Freeman said. "We became very, very close, and it showed up on the field."

"We're gonna celebrate this for a long time because this is hard to do in this game — win championships," Freeman said. "We get to have a parade finally for LA. I can't wait."

A World Series parade and Dodger Stadium event

The parade will begin outside of Los Angeles City Hall at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 1 and travel through the streets of downtown Los Angeles. Mayor Karen Bass and law enforcement officials have warned that there will be heavy traffic, suggesting that people consider riding LA Metro trains and buses and announcing preparations to hopefully lessen some of the congestion.

On the same day, the team is hosting the Dodger Stadium Championship Celebration, a ticketed event starting at 11 a.m. and featuring food, entertainment and team gear. Players will join the event following the parade downtown. The parking gates will open at 8:30 a.m. and the gates will open at 9 a.m.

Tickets for the event go on sale Thursday, Oct. 31 — at 12 p.m. PST and can be found here. Here are parking tickets.

Where will the parade travel?

After starting at 11 a.m. outside of LA City Hall, located at 200 N. Spring St., the parade will head south down Spring Street before making a right turn onto 1st Street. From there, it will continue and go left on Grand Avenue before traveling for several miles and ending at Flower Street.

The Dodgers said of the two events in a post to X: "Please note that it will not be feasible for fans to attend both the parade and the Dodger Stadium event."

Where can I watch the parade?

The parade will be aired on KCAL News Channel 2 and 9 and streaming on CBS News Los Angeles. It will be hosted by KCAL's Pat Harvey, Jim Hill, Jamie Yuccas and Rudabeh Shahbazi.

In recent years, Angelenos have been treated to a number of parades following victories by home teams including the 2022 Super Bowl Champion Rams and the 2022 MLS Champion Los Angeles Football Club. This is the first in over 30 years for LA's home MLB team.

It will take place on what would have been the 64th birthday of Dodger great Fernando Valenzuela, whose death was announced by the team just days before the Fall Classic. His 1981 rookie season was the last time LA faced off with the Yankees in the World Series.

Does the Metro have any trains or buses going to the parade?

City leaders asked attendees to use the Metro to get to the parade in downtown LA. Metro provided the following instructions for those traveling downtown:

  • You can take the B Line from North Hollywood and D Line from Wilshire/Western to one of three stations: Civic Ctr/Grand Park, Pershing Square, and 7th St/Metro Center.
  • If you're coming from the San Gabriel Valley or the South Bay, you can take the A Line to 2nd/Broadway, Grand Av Arts/Bunker Hill, or 7th St/Metro Ctr Stations.
  • If you're coming from Santa Monica or East LA, you can take the E Line to 2nd/Broadway, Grand Av Arts/Bunker Hill, or 7th St/Metro Ctr Stations.
  • And you can pick up the A, B, and D Lines from Union Station, which connects to Metrolink, Amtrak, and many other bus services.
