Deputies Shoot, Kill Man Who Pointed Weapon At Them In Olivehurst

OLIVEHURST (CBS13) -- Deputies say they fatally shot a man who pointed a weapon at them late Saturday night.

The incident happened along the 1600 block of 9th Avenue in Olivehurst. According to the Yuba County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the scene due a man reportedly making threats to his family.

Pulling up to the scene, deputies say they spotted a man in the front yard carrying a firearm.

The deputies ordered the man to put the weapon down, but he allegedly refused. Deputies say the man eventually pointed the weapon at them, forcing them to open fire.

The man was hit and was later pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released.

Both the California Department of Justice and the Yuba County Sheriff's Office are investigating the incident.
