Sacramento Kings DeMarcus Cousins Fined $25,000 For Throwing Mouthpiece, Entering Stands

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The NBA has fined DeMarcus Cousins $25,000 for throwing his mouthpiece into the stands, then going into the stands to retrieve it.

The odd moment happened toward the end of the Sacramento Kings 106-103 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday. Cousins attempted to draw an offensive foul on a layup, but was instead charged with a blocking foul.

His reaction showed off some of the amenities of the Golden 1 Center, including an aisle leading up from the baseline where Cousins could storm off, throw his mouthpiece in disgust, retrieve it, then walk back down the the court where he was assessed with a technical foul. To his credit, Cousins did not appear to put the mouthpiece back in his mouth after retrieving it from the stands.

You can watch the whole incident here.

Cousins lead the league with 17 technical fouls last season. The 17th foul earned him a one-game suspension last year.
