Rancho Cordova man killed in crash at Florin Road and S. Watt Avenue in South Sacramento
SACRAMENTO - One person has died in connection with a crash on Florin Road at South Watt Avenue on Sunday night.
According to the CHP, at 7:41 p.m., the CHP learned about a two-vehicle crash that involved someone being thrown from a vehicle.
Officers arrived at the scene and determined that the driver of a 2016 Ford was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Florin Road toward the intersection of South Watt Avenue while the driver of a 2014 Toyota was traveling northbound on South Watt Avenue. According to a witness, the Toyota was traveling through the intersection on a green light when the Ford hit the Toyota.
The impact of the crash caused the Ford to lose control, flip onto its roof, and throw a passenger -- who wasn't wearing a seatbelt -- clear from the vehicle, the CHP says.
Fire personnel arrived at the scene of the crash and transported the passenger to Kaiser South where he later died. He has since been identified as Rancho Cordova resident Steven Julio Agosto, 38.
The driver of the Toyota was not injured. The driver of the Ford suffered minor injuries.
Neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be factors in the crash, the CHP says.
