Loose Cow In Elk Grove Corralled
ELK GROVE (CBS13) – It took a cowboy riding a horse, swinging a lasso, to finally corral a cow that had been eluding authorities since early Wednesday morning.
Reports first came out about 3:15 a.m. about a black cow walking along Highway 99. Around 4:30 a.m., the cow ended up in a shopping center parking lot off of Elk Grove Boulevard.
The cow then made its way between Stockton Boulevard and Highway 99, near the Masonic Cemetery.
Authorities made many unsuccessful attempts to corral the cow. Just after 6:30 a.m., the cow was surrounded by police – obviously scared. The cow managed to sneak by police and into the shopping center parking lot.
"When you're dealing with an animal that's afraid, that's frightened, you never know how they can react," said Officer Chris Trim with the Elk Grove Police Department.
Around 7:30 a.m., a cowboy riding a horse managed to - finally - corral the cow, bringing an end to the situation.
"This is everyday stuff," said J.R. Hardesty, the cowboy who managed to lasso the cow.
It is unclear who owns the cow.
