Cops Believe Tracy Vandalism Will Stop After Christmas Break Ends

TRACY (CBS13) — Vandals have targeted dozens of cars and homes in Tracy, but police think it could all stop next week.

One man woke up to a dirty picture spraypainted on his garage and one of his cars tagged. He's so embarrassed, he didn't want us to show his face.

Police say they've been flooded with calls about spraypaint on people's cars and homes. Sometimes it looks as though someone just drove by, aimlessly spraypainting cars parked on the street.

"They appear to be the same person with what we've seen at the car and home incidents," said Sgt. Tony Sheneman.

Many think kids on Christmas break could be to blame, and when school starts next week, the vandalism will stop.

"The increase in calls did start around the time school let out for Christmas break," Sheneman said.

Rachel Nettesheim lives across the street from where storage units were tagged.

"Kids have too much free time on their hands," she said. "I'm just in complete shock something like this would happen in our neighborhood."
