Colusa County Home, Dog Kennels Go Up In Flames

MAXWELL (CBS13) – A woman and her more than a dozen dogs are homeless after a fire tore through their property Friday morning.

The scene is on Lausten Road, near Maxwell Colusa Road.

A caller first reported seeing flames coming from the house just before 5 a.m., according to CHP.

The homeowner tells CBS13 that she was asleep on her couch when some flashes of light woke her up. She says her dogs started going crazy, alerting her that her house was on fire.

She was able to get out safely, along with her dogs inside the house. Another eight dogs in a kennel beside her house also got out safely.

Crews are investigating what caused the fire.
