Citrus Heights Standoff That Put Neighborhood On Lockdown Ends With Arrest
CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) — A Citrus Heights standoff that placed a neighborhood on lockdown has ended with an arrest, authorities said.
The Citrus Heights Police Department said they got calls at around 9 a.m. Saturday regarding a verbal altercation between neighbors on the 7200 block of La Luna Court.
Police said the suspect, Daniel Makarov, 31, was naked during the altercation and physically assaulted the victim after an animal dispute.
When officers arrived on the scene, the suspect barricaded himself inside the home. The other individual suffered minor injuries.
Citrus Heights PD said officers located two firearms outside of Marakov's residence.
Believing the suspect had additional firearms inside, SWAT was called on the scene to assist in getting Marakov into custody.
Several nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution.
As of 6 p.m., officers were finally able to take Marakov into custody.
No further information has been released at this time.
