Car Crashes Off I-80 Into South Yuba River
CISCO GROVE (CBS13) – Authorities say a driver who was coming into a curb too hot lost control and crashed into the South Yuba River late Thursday night.
The scene was off Interstate 80, near Eagle Lakes.
According to California Highway Patrol, the crash happened just after 11 p.m. The car ended up into a rocky and fast-moving, but shallow, part of the river.
Officers say the people inside the car were able to climb out – and made it all the way home to Reno before reporting the crash to authorities. No one was hurt, CHP says.
It's unclear how the people made it back to Reno, CHP says, as their cellphones were still in the car.
Crews hoisted the car out of the water early Friday morning.
