CHP: Alta Arden Expressway Crash Kills 1, Six Others Injured

SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) – Authorities say one person is dead and six others are injured after a crash on the Alta Arden Expressway Sunday afternoon.

The incident happened just after 12:30 p.m. California Highway Patrol says a silver minivan was speeding on south on Wyda Way and apparently blew through the stop sign at the Alta Arden intersection.

As it was entering the intersection, the silver minivan broadsided another minivan.

Kenneth Osborn, 37, who was a passenger in the other minivan, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger, only identified as a juvenile, was transported with major injuries, while three others inside the other minivan suffered minor to moderate injuries.

CHP says the driver of the silver minivan, only identified as a woman, has been transported to the UC Davis Medical Center.

The crash is still being investigated and it is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol played a factor.
