Child Stabbed During Attempted Robbery At California Bank

SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a child who was stabbed during an attempted robbery at a Wells Fargo bank in Northern California will require surgery but is expected to survive.

San Leandro Police Lt. Robert McManus said by an adult who allegedly took cash from a customer making a deposit at a teller's window injured the child during an unprovoked attack on Monday morning.

McManus says police arrested a suspect outside the bank after employees and customers called 911. He says the injured child and the suspect are unrelated.

McManus says the child suffered serious injuries, but is in stable condition.
