Central California Woman Gets 19 Years For Deaths Of 2 In DUI
VISALIA (AP) -- A Northern California judge sentenced a 28-year-old woman to 19 years to life in prison for the drunken driving deaths of two people in 2016 when she slammed into a minivan after running a stop sign.
KFSN-TV in Fresno reports that Cheyenne Wyllie was sentenced in a Visalia courtroom on Tuesday after pleading no contest to two counts of second-degree murder in August.
Sixty-nine-year-old Angelita Espinosa and 10-year-old Jamie Espinosa died in the March 26, 2016 crash.
Court documents say Wyllie had spent that evening drinking at a downtown Visalia restaurant and at a friend's house. She allegedly sent text messages to friends and family detailing her drinking and her intention to drive, despite texts back urging her not to.
Police measured Wyllie's blood alcohol as .21%.
