Chain Controls In Effect For Sierra Highways
NEVADA COUNTY (CBS13) — With another storm rolling in, chain controls went into effect on several Sierra highways Monday evening.
Snow started falling around 5 p.m. on Monday and is expected to continue through Tuesday afternoon. A winter weather advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday for elevations above 3,500 feet.
Chain controls were in effect for the following Sierra highways Monday evening:
Interstate 80: Chains required for all vehicles from 2.1 miles east of Baxter in Placer County to Truckee in Nevada County.
Highway 50: Chains required for all vehicles from 3 miles east of Kyburz to Meyers in El Dorado County.
Highway 20: Chains required for all vehicles from 5 miles west of the junction of I-80 to the junction of I-80.
Highway 28: Chains required for all vehicles from four miles east of Tahoe City to the Nevada State Line.
Highway 88: Chains required for all vehicles from 5 miles west of Picketts Junction to Picketts Junction.
Highway 89: Chains required for all vehicles from Picketts Junction to Highway 50. Chains or snow tires are required from Bliss State Park to Truckee.
Highway 267: Chains required for all vehicles from 5 miles south of Truckee to Kings Beach.
