SACRAMENTO — A California man accused of distributing child sex abuse materials online was arrested and found to be in possession of more than 600 images of children, some as young as toddlers, authorities said Thursday.

Marc Hinahon Aquino, of Lincoln, was booked into the Placer County Jail on charges of possessing material depicting the sexual conduct of a minor, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said.

The CHP's Computer Crimes Investigation Unit (CCIU) conducted the operation and said Aquino surrendered on Wednesday.

CCIU investigators traced the distribution of the illicit materials to a home in Lincoln last December, the CHP said. On July 18, investigators conducted a search warrant at the home and discovered the hundreds of images on digital devices and other evidence connecting Aquino to those images.

According to the CHP, the children depicted in the images ranged from toddlers to prepubescent teens.

Aquino is being held on a $50,000 bond.
