Cal Fire: San Diego County Wildfire A Warning Of What's To Come In California This Summer
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A fast-moving wildfire in San Diego County could be an indicator of what's still to come in the Sacramento area.
The flames are leaping through backyards consuming homes and creating chaos on roadways. Homeowners are left watching news updates to learn their property's fate.
Carlsbad evacuee Samantha Murphy, her husband and 1-year-old child were forced to leave, as her family from Sacramento is watching the fire lines closely.
"Police cars were circling the neighborhood and telling us to evacuate," she said.
Cal Fire's Daniel Berlant says this fire is a warning for all Californians this year.
"Conditions here in our area are just as dry as they are in Southern California," Berlant said.
Cal Fire has already hired 300 more seasonal firefighters this year, predicting a fire season of historic proportions.
"The drought has set the stage for a potentially very busy and very devastating wildfire season," he said.
