Best Fourth Of July Events In Sacramento

Fireworks are always a hit for the Fourth of July. The sky gets dark, the crowds hold their breath, and then the booms and bursts begin. There are other events on this day that emphasize other things; family, picnics, parades, and just plain, old-fashioned good times are available all over the greater Sacramento area. Here are just a few, with and without the pyrotechnics.
Old Sacramento
Old Sacramento and Raley Field
101 I St.
Sacramento, CA 95814

Date: July 3 and July 4 2015, 9:30 p.m. to around 10:30 p.m.

Two days worth of bangs and booms, Old Sacramento and the Sacramento River Cats will team up on both days for fireworks at Raley Field in West Sacrament, then the River Cats will host fireworks after the ball game on July 3rd. If you're not at the game, hang out in Old Sac and look up when you hear the first whistle and boom. On the 4th, the River Cats are playing out of town, but Raley Field will be the place that Old Sacramento hosts the Fourth of July Fireworks special. If you don't have a ticket, you'll still see the fireworks from Old Sacramento.

Hagan Park is beautiful, with plenty of space for everyone and the Sacrament River running right by it. There will be, according to the sponsors, dozens of free events over this two day celebration. They claim to being the premier Fourth of July event in the area. Competition is fierce, and they are planning on coming out on top. Expect to be joined by a few thousand of your neighbors in the the 80 acres of Hagan Park.

Date: July 2 through July 4 2015, 6 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

The Folsom Pro Rodeo is the rodeo at it's bucking and twisting best. It's said to be one of the longest running annual events in California. Imagine the spectacle of combining rodeo with our Independence Day celebrations. Horses and riders entering the rodeo ring, with flags unfurled and flying proudly in the breeze, the national anthem, and then all that rodeo has to offer, exploding out of the gates. How can you beat that? A little mutton busting for the little ones, a cattle drive on July 1, a contest to crown the Queen of the Rodeo, and fireworks make this a real treat for Independence Day.
