This active downtown art gallery houses some of Sacramento's most talented and creative professionals like Jose Luis Di Gregorio, Gioia Fonda and Sandra Hernandez. When Pigs Fly is a class where students decoupage and customize their very own piggy banks with decorative paper and glue. Drop-in classes are also offered for $25 each on drawing, ceramic work, clay sculpture and screen printing. But classes like Pysanka Galore, which explores the traditional art of Ukrainian Easter eggs, and the Handmade Textiles Camp, which knits and weaves colorful expressive fibers into personal and practical works of art, are what really sets Verge in a class of its own.

If you've ever had the urge to channel Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze's pottery scene from the movie "Ghost" with your loved one, MyStudio's "date night" art class, The Ghost Experience, will make that daydream a reality (Whoopi Goldberg not included). For $30, couples try their hands at the pottery wheel to create a unique piece of art to remember the romantic time spent together molding clay. All the difficult steps are assisted by MyStudio staff members who also lend tips to couples to ensure their date night is a success. This class also comes with a free glaze session two weeks after the piece has dried properly, so couples will have a permanent memento that symbolizes their special evening forever.

Fire and glass may sound like an intimidating combo, but classes at Sacramento Art Glass are for every level of learner. Under the instruction of owner René Steinke, sessions of four to eight students who sign up for Class I will watch demonstrations and learn how to gather glass from a crucible, a container where the glass is melted at high temps, and create one piece of original artwork. Steinke, who has more than 20 years experience in the glass blowing industry, will also spend one on one time with his students who will create a multicolored, glass paperweight by the end of the session. Class II offers students the chance to craft two original pieces, a paperweight and either a small vase, bowl or plate. After the pieces are allowed to cool for up to 14 hours, they're ready to take home or give away as one-of-a-kind gifts.
