Authorities: Man Caught Scaling Jail Fence Trying To Get In

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) -- Sheriff's officials say a 28-year-old man caught climbing a fence at a San Bernardino jail was trying to get in, not out.

Authorities say Shane James McDonald was not a prisoner at the Central Detention Center when he was spotted scaling the perimeter fence early Sunday. But there was a warrant out for his arrest.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise says McDonald was arrested on suspicion of trespassing, and for the warrant.

Officials aren't sure why McDonald wanted to get into the jail, but that's where he ended up. He's being held in lieu of $25,000 bail.

It wasn't immediately known if he has an attorney.
