Suspect Broke Into Car Parked Near American River Confluence, Stole Credit Cards And Used Them At Auburn Stores

AUBURN (CBS13) — Authorities are looking for the suspect who smashed out the windows of a car parked near the American River Confluence, then stole someone's wallet and used the credit cards at some nearby stores.

The incident happened back on Sept. 11. Placer County Sheriff's detectives say the suspect broke into the car parked along Foresthill Road at some point between 2 and 3 p.m. that day.

Later, the suspect used the victim's credit cards at several Auburn stores: Home Depot, Best Auburn Smoke Shop, and Chick-fil-A. Detectives say the suspect also tried to make a large purchase at the Auburn Game Stop store.

In the end, detectives say the suspect managed to charge over $1,600 to the victim's credit cards.

On September 11th, between 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., the suspect seen in this video smashed the windows on two locked vehicles parked along Foresthill Road in Auburn at the American River Confluence. The suspect stole a wallet out of each of the cars and a pair of sunglasses. Later that day, the suspect used both victims' credit cards at the Auburn Home Depot, Best Auburn Smoke Shop, Chick-Fil-A in Auburn, and attempted a large purchase at Game Stop in Auburn. The total amount charged was over $1600. In the surveillance video, the suspect was seen driving a newer red Ram truck. The suspect is believed to be a middle-aged Hispanic male with gray hair, tattoos on his back and possibly his right arm. On Monday, detectives released surveillance video of the suspect. He was also seen driving a newer, red-colored Dodge Ram pickup truck.
