Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested At Fairfield Graduation Ceremony
FAIRFIELD (CBS13) – Police say a man wanted for attempted murder was arrested at a Fairfield high school's graduation ceremony.
Manuel Antonio Rodrigues, a 19-year-old Fairfield resident, was wanted in connection to a May 25 shooting. Fairfield Police say they were tipped off by an off-duty officer that Rodrigues was in the audience at Thursday's graduation ceremony for Rodriguez High School Thursday evening.
Officers decided to let the graduation continue without disruption and just keep a close eye on Rodrigues and to avoid any sort of possible dangerous confrontation.
Once the ceremony ended and Rodrigues left the stadium, officers pounced and took him into custody.
Police say officers stayed at the scene to try and dispel any rumors that may have been generated by the commotion.
