1 dead, 1 hospitalized after house fire in Antelope

ANTELOPE – One person has died and another is in the hospital after a house fire in Antelope.

Metro Fire of Sacramento officials say three people were home at the time the fire broke out a little before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday on Tartan Drive – a son, a mother, and a stepfather.

Firefighters initiated the fire attack at the front of the house where there was heavy fire. They received a report of victims inside and began rescue efforts.

The parents were in the back bedroom, firefighters say; the man was pronounced dead at the scene and the woman was taken to the hospital after sustaining serious injuries. 

The fire did not spread to the surrounding houses in this neighborhood.

Officials could not confirm yet if there was a working smoke detector in this house, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
