Antelope Man Convicted Of Murdering His 75-Year-Old Mother
SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) – An Antelope man has been convicted of murdering his elderly mother.
John Matta, 54, was arrested back in May of 2014 in connection to the death of his 75-year-old mother Janet Matta. An incomplete 911 call where a man on the line said he had a fight with his mother first alerted deputies to the situation.
Janet was soon found dead at her 8000 block of Silk Tree Way home.
Detectives believe John beat and chocked Janet to death.
According to the district attorney's office, John had a history of abusing his elderly mother.
Thursday, the DA's office announced that John had been convicted of first-degree murder. He now faces 25 years to life in prison.
