Homicide investigation underway, man detained at south Sacramento County home
SACRAMENTO COUNTY – A homicide investigation is underway and a man is detained at a south Sacramento County home on Wednesday afternoon, the sheriff's office said.
Deputies said a woman died, possibly from blunt force trauma, on Alta Mesa Road between Valensin Road and Arno Road, south of Wilton and northeast of Galt.
Authorities arrived at the scene around 2:40pm, according to deputies. The victim's body could be seen outside of the home in what appears to be a driveway.
Deputies believed the victim's 29-year-old son was barricaded in a building on the property, officials said. He was detained after an hours-long standoff, deputies said. Investigators are not calling the victim's son a suspect.
