Above-Average Rainfall Slowing Sales In Old Sacramento

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - All December long, rain has dampened holiday shopping in Old Sacramento.

Business owners say sales are down. One shop owner says they're down as much as 20 percent compared to last year, when we had a warm, dry fall.

But the Old Sacramento Business Association is urging people to come out, despite the weather.

There's free parking all day Saturday and Sunday and after 4:30 p.m. on weekdays through Christmas.

Ninety percent of our sidewalks are covered, so there might be a 10-foot stretch where you get a little wet or crossing the street. But otherwise, you'll be dry as you go from shop to shop," said Old Sacramento Business Associate Executive Director Chris McSwain.

If you head out there, Old Sacramento also has Theater of Lights, which shows most nights at 6:15 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. between now and January 31.
