UPDATED: Wife Dies After 88-Year-Old Husband Allegedly Shoots Her At Carson City Hospital

CARSON CITY (CBS13) - A woman hospitalized at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center has died after she was allegedly shot by her 88-year-old husband Sunday morning.

The Carson City Sheriff's Office says William Dresser allegedly came into Francis Dresser's room in the rehabilitation ward, where she was alone, and shot her in the chest just before 11:30 a.m.

The hospital was placed on lockdown for about two hours following the shooting. No other patients or medical staff members were injured.

Francis died from her injuries Wednesday.

William remains in custody at Carson City Jail and now faces murder charges. He is being held on $225,000 bail and is on suicide watch.
