4 Dead After Rollover Crash Near French Camp

FRENCH CAMP, Calif. (AP) - Four people were killed in a rollover crash after a high-speed police chase in Central California.

The San Joaquin Sheriff's Department says a deputy in French Camp attempted to stop the driver of a Chevy Blazer suspected of drunken driving at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

Rather than stopping, the driver led police on a brief, high-speed chase reaching speeds of 100 mph. It ended with the Blazer rolling over multiple times about 50 miles south of Sacramento.

The sheriff's department said the driver and two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene. A fourth passenger died at a nearby hospital.

The names and ages of the victims have not been publicly released pending notification of their families. The department and California Highway Patrol are investigating.
