3 Reasons for Kings Fans to Appreciate Kobe
In a few short hours the Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Lakers will take the court at Sleep Train Arena. This will not be just another game for the Kings and their fans. Tonight marks the last time that Kobe Bryant will take to the Kings home court as an NBA player. People love Kobe, people hate Kobe, but I am here to tell you that wherever you may fall in the Kobe spectrum you should at least respect his amazing basketball abilities. Here are three reasons for Kings fans to appreciate what they will be looking at tonight:
- His Passion: Too many times over the years on our call-in shows have we heard fans complain about effort and energy. These complaints are mainly guided towards the Kings but the point being that Kobe Bryant always bring it. He always plays hard. He always plays with a fire and he always had an insatiable desire to rip your heart out. He is a savage on the floor and I definitely appreciate that.
- His Skill: He started as just an athlete, he turned into a deadly shooter and one of the all time great competitors. He has always been a good two way player, he thrives on big moments and has had many of them in his long career. Kobe belongs on the all-time great list somewhere and couldn't get there without his god given abilities.
- This is it: After tonight you will not have a chance to cheer Kobe or boo him in a game at Sacramento. He has tortured the Kings for years but sometimes there's something to knowing that your nemesis is still out there. There is still a never ending quest to beat him and the Lakers. The Lakers rivalry will still exist but Kobe is the last piece from the early 2000's. He leaves the game with great memories and supplied nightmares to Kings fans, but they are our nightmares that we have all endured together.
So in the end, Kobe will likely get a true "Sacramento" send off, classy and filled with respect. I expect nothing different tonight. Kobe thanks for the memories but I hope the Kings crush you tonight.
